What is the PM stance on BCAA supplementation for those looking to gain mass? Can it have a complementary effect with IF? (or would it negate IF?) I workout heavy three times a week (followed by a few sprint intervals), first thing in the morning off a 15-17 hour fast.

BCAA’s appear to be pretty good at improving recovery. Ido Portal has recommended up to 40g post workout. I think that is really the time to use these. Keep in mind that BCAA’s can compete with tryptophan entering the brain and thus can disturb sleep if taken too close to bedtime. Let me know what your experience is if you start tinkering with them.

Hey Guys--

I have taken BCAA's Post-work out before. Never noticed any difference when I was on them.

The powder form is just plain NASTY tasting. I used capsules because of the taste but you had to take SO MANY to get the recommended dosage.

Gets expensive.

Sticking with Digestive Enzymes, CLO/Fish Oil and Probiotics. Dr. G hooked me up with some good stuff. :D

Was wondering what exactly you've noticed with digestive enzymes and probiotics? I've done both and haven't noticed a difference. I already get probiotics in my food (I make salad dressing by blending kimchee and olive oil) so maybe that's why I haven't noticed a difference from probiotic pills... but the pills are supposed to be super potent.

As far as enzymes, I've read that it's really hard to know which ones to take and has to be tailored to the individual and there's all kinds of special tests you have to take. My Enzaid 2 (proprietary blend for my metabolic type) hasn't made any difference at all.

I've taken herbal bitters to stimulate appetite and digestion (increase gastric juice and saliva flow...and saliva has the enzyme amylase which helps you digest starches, etc.) but didn't notice much of an effect off that either. The only thing that's helped me with digestion (other than giving up soy and wheat and rancid oils) has been chewing slower--which I've noticed a tangible difference from.

Anyway, not trying to diss them, just wondering what effects you've gotten from the two. (I'm already 110% sold on CLO).

Hey there--

Well Dr. G has been prescribing these for me. He seems to really know his stuff. I have been on the on the Probiotics for 2 weeks now. I seem to feel more focused. Overall it is just good for you gut health. Here is what Dr. G told me after asking him uf I will feel better:

You will, according to every single one of my previous patients (if you take
the loading dose as described on the box, don't be chintzy and skip the
loading dose) feel better after taking the probiotics.

As for overall body composition, that has been a mixed bag. Remember, form
follows function, so if we get you healthier, your body will follow suit and
start looking healthier.

Dr. G said these enzymes BLOW EVERY OTHER ENZYME away!

Just great for digesting what we eat. If you eat Chicken or Fish you want your body to have the full effects and assimilate and digest it all properly.

Are you taking probiotics in food form as well as the pills? Also, what makes those particular enzymes better than "every other enzyme"? The ingredients on mine are pretty similar to the ones on that page, and the reason mine are supposedly "better" is because they are specifically designed for my metabolic type and have a "digestive utilization pH range of 3 to 9." (They don't work, so I remain unconvinced.) Also, are there indications that you need them (i.e. that you aren't digesting your protein)? Are you planning on taking enzymes and probiotics forever, or is it just for a temporary boost along with other food-based measures until your gut/digestion are working more optimally?
