New interview with Rippetoe

From EliteFTS.

Haven't read it, just saw it. Thought I'd post content instead of comment.

Mike ODonnell 01-05-2007 04:29 PM

Good book. I like Rip's take on everything.

Steve Shafley 01-05-2007 04:32 PM

I dig Rippetoe's stuff.

Back to basics is really where many people, including myself, need to be.

Pierre Auge 01-05-2007 04:44 PM

we've never agreed more!

Hey by the way have you guys seen the video of when I was at Rip's?

This was about 2 days before I showed up at Burgener's. What a long drive that was! At the time I thought setting Rip up with this music was funny, but now its just kind of odd...

Ron Nelson 01-05-2007 06:34 PM

Sweet videos. I liked the Burgener video and realized how much I miss hanging in the RBVHS weight room. Very cool place.
As for the Rip video, nice back yard. Was that gravel you were dragging the sled through?

Now, the interview. I said it on the CF Total thread; he confirmed what I knew all along. You need to come at CF with a good strength base, something I did not have because my training in the past focused on endurance training and weak cardio work. My base is going up, slowly, but is getting there.

I think he had great things to say about CF and its uses and also spoke the truism that more people are doing Oly lifts because of CF. I know that it is true for me at least. I never would have done cleans, snatches, and jerks had I not stumbled upon CF two years ago.

Who's the big guy PC + Pressing?

Those are some sweet vids, Pierre. That looks like it was a fun, and fufilling road trip.

Pierre Auge 01-05-2007 07:27 PM

His name is Danny Campagna, very nice dude. Yes the trip was enlightening on many subjects. Like driving across north America on a shoe string budget is sure way to screw up any good eating or training habits for months to follow!

On the other hand I did get to train with Rip and Burg, Glenn Pendlay and a host of other fine people! I'm still mulling over some of the things I learned on the trip and figure I will be doing that for some time still.

But I digress, Ron yes I agree with you Rip makes some very good statements. I find his wisdom and humour are refreshing as well. Rip's becoming a good friend I owe the guy a bunch!

Great interview. Some of the best analysis of what CF is and is not appropriate for as well as the significant contribution CF has made to re-awakening a love of the Ol's for many people.

Good interview, thanks for the link!

Good stuff. I finally got around to ordering Starting Strength yesterday...looking forward to that.
