Ham Shanks-works for Breakfast-Lunch and Dinner
Definitly a Pork Fest Weekend.
Was at my local butcher a few times over the Holiday's, and kept looking at these funky big honkin pieces of Pork. Tells me that there cured Ham Shanks, taste good and recipes are only limited to your imagination.
Well, bought 5lbs, tossed a few into my slow cooker, added handful of garlic, few other spices, cranked that baby on high, 4 hours later, alot of the fat had melted away, and you can just pick and eat the meat right off the bone.
Dang good, and pretty cheap. These babies are going to be in my freezer year round.
Hey Jay r u around? I have been looking for something to do with smoked pork shanks.... My brother in law gave me a freezer full of grass fed pork from a local farm he bought and had processed.... and I have some smoked shank it looks/smells soooooo good I just can't figure out the best way to heat it up..... Anyone got an idea?
If there isn't alot of meat on the bone, I'd just boil the shit out of them, use the stock, pick off the meat, add a ton of spices, extra garlic always works good and just nibble away.
I see them in the butcher case every time I'm in and they just look like more work, not enough meat.
