NSCA CSCS accreditation
Hi guys,
I am pleased to say that today I finally got confirmation that I passed my NSCA CSCS exam with an 81% (Section 1), and 82% (Section 2), and my question to you all is... 1) Are any of you CSCS accredited too? 2) Do you believe the CSCS is as prestigious as the NSCA would lead you to believe? 3) If you are CSCS accredited, what new opportunities opened up for you, and was it worth it? Add your own questions if you feel they are valid... (p.s. I remember reading in Greg's book that this is one of the only organisations and certifications that he bothers to update) |
I am a CSCS, and I think it's almost worthless unless you need it to get a S&C gig for training athletes. Very few CE's offered by the NSCA are worth anything to me.
I haven't looked much into it, but I've heard good things about NASM. There's also an organization that is run out of the UK and recently arrived in the U.S. that is probably the best of them all in terms of content/knowledge base, but it's not yet well known in the states. I can't remember the name of it, but it's run out of a university that is well known for sports science. |

Did you need it for whatever it is that you're currently involved in? I'm not actually sure of how much use it'll be to me in the UK as it's predominantly an American accreditation, and UKSCA accreditation will definately be of more value for now. |
Here you go. Steven Plisk actually wrote a chapter in the NSCA's CSCS textbook, but I think he recently disassociated himself from the organization.
