ME Black Box still relavent
Just curious if the ME black box is still recommended? My conditioning is not the greatest (as shown sometimes in my muay thai classes) and my strength is average. I have the journals on the black box program but just want to get a general opinion. Thanks

I think it depends on your goals...but, for the average working adult who wants to be "fit", I think the template...1 heavy lift, followed by a short 3-10min metabolic condition/power endurance/whatever circuit using appropriate exercises is the best way to be "fit".

mebb is a great program as-is and a good starting template to modify to better suit your individual needs.

Rutherford discusses what type of conditioning work he suggests - generally fairly conservative in terms of duration and exercise selection. I would stay away from cf.com workouts.

Matt-
CF.com Greg is right about the CF.com workouts. If anything they will drastically hamper your fitness goals. Quality strength work, mixed with simple, short, intense metcons will be your best bet. I use a lot of conditioning work with rest intervals in it. This keeps the intensity up, allows modest recovery between rounds, which really prevents form breakdown. In terms of simplicity, I develop the olympic lifts, gymnastic skills, and other high technical movements separate from our conditioning. |
Thanks for all your help guys. I am pretty new to all of the conditioning aspect of this. I have followed some good strength coaches but nee to work on strength/power plus some conditioning so when it comes time to fight i am ready
