Basic Strength Standards Chart
Is there a strength reference chart for weightlifting? I have seen Mark Rippetoe's chart on the Starting Strength site and I've used it as reference for Presses, Squats and Deadlifts.
I understand that progress in the Olympic Lifts involves a great deal of technique development but I am wondering if said chart would be helpful in determining when to implement certain cycles. Thanks |
The Soviet classification system is as good as it gets for this. It sets standards for 6 classifications for each bodyweight class and gender. You can find it in Charniga's Russian manual translations and in Bob Takano's upcoming book.

I knew the Russian standards had to be out on the web somewhere. The new US ones look pretty daunting as Mr. Takano points out.
