Default Australian Weightlifting Nationals

Just got back from the 2007 National championships and my first national level assistant coaching gig.

For all the people out there who think that they know how to teach olympic lifting i'll tell you that being a coach at a big event is completely different but a hell of a lot of fun and a great challenge!

Sets, reps, loads and volume are all forgotten and the game becomes maths, psychology and tactics.

Standing in front of the attempt board trying to keep track of attempts in a session where you have 2 lifters and 14 other competitors while a 4 time Olympic head coach asks you about why, who, how many and how long gets kinda hairy. The whole thing was like a 3 day pop quiz on weightlifting.

Unfortuantely we didn't do quite as well as we'd hoped but a number of lifters did personal bests and there were some good battles for position and some mind boggling lifts.
