Building muscle on TKD?
So I'm just wondering, I've been rereading the keto book by Lyle McDonald and reading around a few different forums.
It seems as though many people feel that it is generally not a good idea to try and build muscle while in ketosis (whether CKD or TKD) and that if you want to do a low carb bulk, you should get 100 grams of carbs per day, plus some focused around training.
I'm just wondering though if anyone here has experienced otherwise? I'd like to try a TKD bulk (without any carb loading), but am wondering if I'm going to make it way to hard on myself to actually gain some muscle.
Also, if it isn't advisable, what exactly happens.
Let's say someone maintains on 2000 calories per day (training included).
In one scenario they are eating keto (30% protein, 65% fat, 5% carbs), with an extra 50 or so carbs around training with a total intake of 2500 calories.
and in the other scenario they are eating more of a mixed diet (say 30% protein, 30% fat and 40% carbs) taking in the same 2500 calories.
Does one build muscle better? If the one with the carbs does, what happens to the excess calories on keto? Do they just get stored as fat easier? That part I'm just still a little unsure of.
