Steven is correct, fiber helps to slow the digestion and helps like fat to make you feel fuller longer. If something says it is 12g of carbs, with 4g of fiber, the net carb intake is 8g. That is why on things like the Zone diet you have to eat enormous amounts of green vegetables to come even close to a 3 or 4 block meal.
