Well, nuts are different from oils. There is a much higher absorption rate on oils than nuts. With that in mind, you get a ton more calories (something like 50% more) from the oil or nut butters as opposed to whole nuts.

Oils/Nut Butters are better if you are trying to gain weight or be most cost effective with your calories. Whole nuts are better for losing weight.
