I think as long as you are a technically proficient skater using to stay active shouldn't be an issue. However, traditionally the crossover is track cycling to speed skating. I don't know how much sport specific carry over there is to outdoor track.

To clarify slightly, I would only be using skating as a stimulus replacement, not as something to attempt to help w/track. So I guess my question is whether folks think skate sprinting provides/encourages a similar neurophysical response to track sprinting.
