This is the sort of feedback I am looking for. So let me summarize what I understand as your opinion:
- Tyler's Elites have a more secure strap but a more flimsy feeling ring. (I've heard that adjusting the straps on these is more of a pain than on the other brands.) I've heard a couple other people say that their Elites cracked. I wonder if the new EXF ones are more robust.
- Coach Sommer's xtreme rings are more sturdy in the ring structure but the straps slip. This would be unacceptable in the pain in the butt department.

yep pretty much. the best of both worlds would probably be to have the elite rings' straps with the xtreme rings' handles.
