From what I remember reading from Robb and Mark Sisson I thought a fasted post work out window can actually increase insulin sensitivity.

Also if you haven't read this yet this may be something you could try by applying the same principals

Specifically the BCAA intake post workout until you can have your PWO meal.

Dr. G may be able to comment further however.
