I think one of the reasons Glassman's lectures sound authoritative to the Kool-Aid and pompous and confusing to everyone else is his love of big, important, science-y sounding words combined with his inability to use them correctly or in the proper context. The result comes out like a sixth grader having a field day with a thesaurus. Establishing mastery through obfuscation!
