Could be a vascular issue or could be as simple as muscles are spasming or getting tight or whatever.. or could be something else.

The warm sensation occurs in a region extending approximately 4inches over the top of her knee (but not in the knee cap I don't believe).
Yeah I wasn't super concerned because she's not experiencing any pain or other negative symptoms, was more a curiousity drivien question.
