Default NorCal Open Weightlifting meet - 230kg

We hosted the 2007 NorCal Open meet at our gym - FIT in Los Altos. Later in the day the most successful weightlifting coach of all time comes walking in...none other than Ivan Abadjiev from Bulgaria. He brought a 105+ lifter with him by the name of Nikolay Hristov. He was born in 1981, today he weighed 146.7 and did 180X, 180, 190 and 225 & 230 = 420.

Here's a video of the 230kg C&J

Oh yeah, it's a new PWA (Pacific Weightlifting Association) record

Always inspiring to see someone moving that kind of weight. Thanks for posting the video.

Did any of the judges red light him for not lowering the barbell properly? Did the lift count?

The lift counted as all 3 gave him white lights. A few people made comments about that afterwards. The judges red lighted someone else in the session about 15 min. prior for not lowering the bar properly.

...actually, I just talked with Rob about this a few hours ago and he said the head official, Don Wilson, gave it a red light, but the other two gave it white lights so it was considered a good lift.
