If you could do it all again...
If you could start over from the beginning, with the knowledge you have now, how would you approach training?
I would have overhead squatted and done kettlebell swings, nothing else for a good while except play sports.

Gymnastics / rings upper body, weight (mostly DLs) + sprinting lower body.
That's what I'm going to be doing now anyway so...

Not signed up for the Jack LaLanne gym at 16 that was full of machines only and found a place that would teach me to DL and Squat only.

If I had been able to grow up here instead of California, train with my Coach as a freshman back in high school, then I could literally have had the same base of strength development in the Olympic lifts from the same coach that trained up Lance Fry.

From the beginning of my involvement in weight training: Go on Starting Strength right away for as long as necessary then Texas Method to build a strong strength base, without screwing around with XF, fat loss, etc. etc. etc.
If I could have completely redone history: trained on the olympic lifts with a real coach from the age of 12

I probably would have learned out to lift properly instead of followed some bro split of the week, injury proofed myself properly and still be playing rugby.

Stretched my hamstrings.
Found an OL coach and learned the lifts.
Not wasted my time with all the team sports. Skipping baseball would have left my right shoulder a lot better and not put so much mileage on my knees (I was a catcher).
Stuck with more gymnastics (the first couple times I tried it, I hated doing all the push-ups, sit-ups, etc...I find that humorous now).
Definitely would have run track instead of baseball in the winter.

Just for arguments sake, what age are we talking about?

I'd assume "if you could do it all again" means just that. All of it.

I'd assume the word 'it' refered to strength training, in the context of the post on a weightlifting message board.
