Rotator cuff issues after doing windmills
I have had some rotator cuff pain after doing windmills. It only happens on my weaker side, which I'm chalking up to me allowing more movement of the KB. I guess this is maybe from not locking my shoulder into place like Pavel talks about?
Anyway, is this something you guys have experienced and think will go away as my shoulder strengthens or should exchange windmills for something else (or lighter weight)?

Is it after doing multiple reps? Does it feel different between sides?
Ensure you are actively pressing your shoulder up also.

Most shoulder issues correspond with weak scapula stabilizers. Strengthen your trapezius and rhomboids....and learn to engage them with any movement.

You could also have someone check out your subscapularis. It tends to lock up the shoulder in conjunction with the weakness of the stabilizers. The ART move on this muscle can be more painful than 20 rep squats.

Yeah, it was only noticeable after ~30 reps or so and only with my left shoulder.
I've never noticed any performance or obvious musculature differences between the two. But, I remembered that I had the Horwitz rotator cuff book and went through some of the tests. It definitely seems as if I have something going on with that shoulder. I took note of my habits today and I do seem to do some things that could have helped lead up to this: throwing my back pack over my left shoulder, leaning on it while reading, etc.
Thanks for the tips, guys. I guess my best bet is to hold off them until I can correct the issue.

I have had some shoulder issues, and i usually find carefull windmills and TGU's to be quite beneficial.

30 reps?
I don't do many windmills, but they are not an exercise I would prescribe for many sets or many reps..Maybe 2 to 3 sets of 5.

You could always just do the sit-up part of the
TGU...

Hmm, I guess I never thought of windmills as something that I'd want heavy weight on.
