There's some shady scoring at these olympics so far though:
1. Chinese women on BB/UB in AA
2. Cheng Fei on Vault over Sacramone
3. That one you're talking about.
4. The one coming up on women's unevens and men's vault (although debatable.. with the tiebreaking)... basically WTF up is with the ties.

Shady scoring, kinda seems like slight home team bias.

Well that's the problem with objective sports. Winning isn't always in your hands. So you do what you can and hope for the best.

I'm just glad that Liukin won the all-around. She should have had at least 2 more tenths on her vault. As for the uneven, the tie breaking system.. is faulty.

Oh and I decided this year that I think that the women should add an extra event. Go to 5. Perhaps rings. Would really make things weird for a while as the women train for it... but why not.

I also think the women should switch uneven to high bar. They basically do high bar anyhow now, since there are little points to be earned when going to the lower bar; however, they have to at least once. Its not like the old days when women went crazy with transitions.

My gymnastics coach said last night that he has been judging for 4 years and read the "book" thoroughly and never saw that tie breaking scheme in there. He also is apparently very close with Sacramone and was very frustrated talking about the events yesterday.

I have a copy of the code of points and as far as I know they did not outline tie breaking procedures in it. Shrug. Looked through it a couple times today and still did not see anything.

IMO they should just base it on their preliminary routine -- whoever scored higher on that one should win. I think that's what they did 8 years back in Sydney. It rewards the athlete with the most consistency.

I'm surprised a judge is not aware of FIG rules for tiebreaking.

Non-olympics they just have ties though. At worlds and other international competitions not moderated by IOC they hand out two golds or two silvers or two bronze. It's just in the few instances like this that they actually need them, heh.

True...

And that's only since Atlanta. I think its silly. Ties for a gold medal is fine with me. But I guess the IOC doesn't want gold medal ties.
