Anybody seen these MBT shoes yet? They are REALLY pricey (I think like $250) but one of my teachers just bought a pair, and I'm dying to know if they're all they claim to be. I looked at the research on their site but it hasn't been peer-reviewed and the sample size for one of the studies was only ten... Seems like they'd be awful for squatting but good for flat surfaces.

I saw those the other day when I was browsing in the shoe store.
Isn't it a balance thing? They look a bit odd, which would prevent my wife from wearing them, fashion being what it is.

My teacher promised to wear them next time we get coffee. She said she'd tell me if they work or not... She says they feel like walking barefoot in the sand. They even come with an instructional video!
I hear you on the fashion thing! It's all about the Dansko's! They are the only shoes you can wear to a "real" job that look good AND don't hurt! They even won some kind of design excellence in women's comfort award.

So I saw the infamous shoes and they are indeed a bit silly looking. She had these pink ones: http://www.swissmasaius.com/Products...roductId=14890 and they were very very round on the bottom. She did say that when she wears them and goes on walks her back and knees don't hurt and her thighs and other muscles feel a bit sore afterwards, so I guess they are working. I guess you can just wear them to go on walks or whatnot and wear other shoes in public.

Massai Barefoot Technology...in a shoe? I'm not sold. Instability? Walking barefoot is UNSTABLE? I'm a big fan of barefoot training, but I'm kind of a n anti-tech Luddite. Go figure.

I think it's the flat concret surfaces they have problems with, not being barefoot. These shows (supposedly) distribute the load more evenly.
