Cori cleaned up her diet a good amount and started getting in 3-4 workouts a week of hill walking pushing Taryn in a stroller and some Jazzercize...boom, 7 pounds in 2 weeks!
You have no worries, you have the tools.

breast feed.
you'll use an extra 600 to 1000 calories per day breast feeding your infant, plus you'll markedly improve the babies IQ, immune system, and dentition by doing so.
it's a win-win.

Carlin is one year, one month and one day old today. I still nurse him through the night and whenever he wishes during the day... My flabby butt is still pretty tubby though.

Jamila,
I breast fed all three of mine and I although I dropped a lot of weight at first, I couldn't really drop the rest until I stopped nursing. And, I'm glad I didn't. Your body composition and diet DO have an effect on the quality of your breast milk and if you aren't getting enough fat and protein in your diet, it comes from your body. Carbs aren't really an issue, but we're usually so darn tired, we crave them for energy to keep us going. Believe it or not, you may have lost a lot of muscle mass through the pregnancy and nursing, I did. I went on a strict hypertrophy/strength cycle for 4 months after my youngest turned a year and then went back to conditioning after that. It really helped my energy levels and I got a lot more after my workouts. I felt that I was just spinning my wheels trying to "burn off" the fat before then and my joints hurt and I was just exhausted.
Anyway, I hope that helps.
Sara

I'm probably looking for an excuse for my flab, but that COULD explain the reason that even when I got within 10 pounds of my pre-boy weight, I still look tubbier than usual.
Oh well. I've been doing P90X workouts for the past week, I'm definitely getting lighter. Now to be able to tune out the voices that compel me to eat cookies...
And Sara, I thank you for your advice. My mom had four of us and was a stone cold fox until she decided to make bingo her sport of choice... I take after my father's big chunky people who are built to pull plows behind them. I take it in stride though. I'm just hoping to get healthier now.
I don't get enough sleep to be shallow enough to care about my looks anymore!

What do you think of the P90X? I was thinking of getting them off of Craigslist for Cori...

I give p90x my highest recommendation. The programs work. I'm not even joking, I lost a dress size after three workouts! The shortest workout is 55 minutes and the average is just over an hour with a few that run 90 minutes.
Of course the guy turned periodization into "muscle confusion" and he's like a hetero manly Denise Austin. But more power to him $$$.
Eating as cleanly as your wife must, I bet she'd be in top shape in 6 weeks!

Those types of products are valuable because you just pop them in and follow along.
The "Insanity" workout vids are supposedly even tougher than the P90x.
