At least 8 torn achilles tendons in the NFL since training camps opened (~1 week): http://corner.bigblueinteractive.com...&thread=410287
By no means do I mean to vindicate CF having undertrained weekend warriors do high-rep box jumps for time (and therefore often in a depth jump style).
My guess is that the injured players didn't properly train during the lock out and so their bodies weren't ready for the full stresses of training camp...

It really is, its just a compilation of gold. The design of that olympic weightlifting/ strength training program is amazing. I thought how he collaborates the 2 different "movement rates" programs into 1 program was pretty damn fascinating to produce a stronger training effect. A stark contrast compared what you hear from the USA coaches which are usually recommending a "bulgarian", or 5x5, or 3x3, or a fixed rep scheme.

Shane . . . should people joining a gym to lose weight and get healthier expect the level of injuries incurred at pro football training camps?

LOL @ this

Coach:
Funny you mention the NSCA's CSCS certification. I lay a good part of the blame for an exercise science that is neither science nor about exercise on the NSCA. The NSCA's response to CrossFit dominating them in the marketplace and staking claim to evidence based fitness that first and foremost examines and studies human performance in universally recognized kinematic terms tied to a training stimulus has been to engage in tortuous interference of our contracts by publicly spreading lies about CF (EG, telling the Air Force that the Navy is suing us, a deliberate lie, sent by email, leaked to us)

How do you pull off a sentence like that.

That little piece of prose reminds me of this:
George Orwell's 5 Rules for Effective Writing:
1. Never use a metaphor, simile, or other figure of speech which you are used to seeing in print.
2. Never use a long word where a short one will do.
3. If it is possible to cut a word out, always cut it out.
4. Never use the passive where you can use the active.
5. Never use a foreign phrase, a scientific word, or a jargon word if you can think of an everyday English equivalent.
Also, I just found an exclusive outtake from the At the Chalkboard series:

How does one go about "telling the Air Force that the Navy is suing" anyone for anything? Is Glassman saying the Air Force has a hot line? A customer service email or something? Or were notes slipped into the jumpsuits of his favorite pilots?

Theoretical templates are theoretical until someone stands on the podium after having used them for a number of years.
