South American diet observation
I just spent 10 days in Bolivia. this was my third trip to Bolivia and my umpteenth trip to South America. However, I hadn't realized in the past how little protein the people actually eat. I had been averaging around 150-200 grams of protein a day. I think I was getting about 30 grams per day down there. all meals have a tiny piece of meat and then tons of starch. for example, i went to a rotissery (sic?) chicken place and got one chicken leg on top of a moundful of rice, with a side of noodles and yucca plant. Breakfast is bread. I am sure this is because meat is much more expensive and the starch is used as a filler. Obviously, most guys down there have no muscle to them whatsoever. It makes you wonder what the population would look like if they were able to eat more protein.
