The only thing that I found in the article that seemed a bit off was trying to compare the force output of OL and stone lifting. Stone lifting really slows down as the weights go up...stopping to regrip, etc.

yeah, you're right. that whole discusion is weird to me.
To be honest I don't get the point of comparing peak power outputs between sports. It's just not real useful information...for instance in a BMX start, riders are generating something in excess of 2000 watts of power, in the Kilo a track reacer is generatign a sustained 1000+ plus watts...what does that mean? I dunno? who cares? if you're good at BMX maybe you can be good at the kilo?
strength and power movements are relative to the thing you're doing....from the lap to the platform stone loading is a huge huge power output..the weight moves slow in some cases becuase it's heavy, lighter weights accelerate like a bar, heavy ones creep up......what that is in watts or NM is irrelevant, what is cool is that the basic movements are so similar, grab weight, position weight, establish leverage...JUMP!.

Interesting stuff. i can certainly see how the olympic lifts would improve your stones. But comparing the phases of the two seems off. If anything, I can see the 2nd pull being similar to getting the stone from lap to platform.

Nice big hip/knee extension, and like a clean, there will be times a stone won't go up if you're moving slow, especially to a fairly high platform. Cool article.

nice vid. that stone looks about 30 pounds light for him! was that no tacky too?
the phase discussion does get bogged down...I like my description better...
grab weight, position weight, establish leverage...JUMP!.
