Default Platform for garage gym

Just getting started with the Oly lifts, and I am ordering bumper plates for my garage gym.

I have a small space cluttered with tons of crap, and have been debating the merits of building a platform.

There will not be anyone but me lifting for a while, and I will not be dropping huge weight, so I am not to worried about the abuse on the equipment.

Is that the main reason for the platform? The equipment, or noise level? Is lifting on concrete more dangerous/slippery? I have no idea.

Let me know what you guys think.

I'm no Oly lifter but I think it's nicer to pull on, less noisy and easier to keep your equip in fine fettle. Plenty of plans for good simpel ones out there. we just use 4 sheets of plywood with a stall matting cover,
