Snatch Critique
Hi guys, posted this on facebook, and Allen recommended I post it here too.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOjeX1BRjRE
Couple of quick things, my hips are shooting up too soon and I end up in an upside down L shape, I'm extending my hip forward instead of up, the bar is getting too far away from me, and I'm jumping forward to get under the bar. I'm sure there's a million more things as well. My biggest problem is even when I know that I'm doing something wrong, i.e. hips and legs straighten up and my back comes down, I don't know what to do to fix it.
All and any help is greatly appreciated.

Bar is way too far away from your body on those ones you miss, way too far out front. Glue that thing to you as it comes up. (Pause the video there you'll see what I'm talking about, as you jump the bar is moving more in front of you rather than up in a straight line).
Really fight to not let your butt tuck under, it happens on occasion.
Otherwise some solid technique on most of them!

Chad Cilli - Are you in the USN or USCH by chance? I was noticing the flags in the video.

Hi Dave, we have all the flags up at the Crossfit. John is a Marine reservist, Erik is in the Army, and I have a pending package with the Marines as well. We hope to take down those mirrors and put all the hero workouts and their pictures.

George, I've watched it in slow motion several times now, as well as the dozens of missed lifts I left out, I'm definitely letting the bar get away from me. Really far away from me on alot of the misses. Is that because of how I'm extending my hips? Or do I just need to exert force with my arms to keep the bar in?

Chad,
Sorry for the lack of comments on my part but I'm hoping Greg E. has a chance to look at the video.

When you are extending on those you miss, you don't fully extend back, and the bar travels forward off the hips instead of straight upward. I would go look at the videos of Aimee and Casey Burgener and look at how when they are fully extended they are leaning slightly backwards - this is because they have to do that in counter the weight of the force they are pulling to keep the center of gravity of the whole human-bar kinetic chain in balance.
