Default Turf toe

So I've got a case of turf toe. It doesn't noticeably hinder my ability to do things, but my toe is sore (for days) after.

Lunges kill it (when it is the back foot). Supporting myself on pushups doesn't feel good. Running and jumping aggravate it (especially on hard surfaces). Basically anything where I fully extend the toe under a load is not so good. I've done the rest thing for awhile, but it comes back. I've been stupid and trained through it as well. It has been bothering me off and on for around a year now. I think my ankle injury (see thread below) last year limited my ankle ROM causing the toe joint to pick up the slack. My ankle ROM is now pretty close to the healthy one.

I'd like to keep deadlifts and RDL around.I hate to cut out basketball, sprinting, and jumping, but realize it is necessary. Beyond avoiding these activities, what else should I do?

Anything you can do to increase blood flow to the foot is a good idea.

Contrast hydrotherapy is one.

Low intensity (cold) laser is what I used on my MTP joint when I hyperflexed it doing stupid tumbling in gymnastics (the opposite injury of turf toe). It still took 3-4 months to feel normal.

Traumeel gel and DMSO liquid applications may be something you'd like to Google more on.
