Default Sled Question

Q: How does pushing with weight behind, (having rope threaded through pipe, trainee is pushing pipe with rope tied to sled behind trainee,) compare with pushing with weight in front? (As would be the case when trainee is pushing a car, for example.)

Background: I have never used a sled. I'd like to try it in the yard of my home as the nicer weather approaches. I came across this father & son business on CraigsList (out of South Jersey,) and I am inclined to get the small sled (as opposed to the large which comes ready-made for pushing and pulling,) but most definitely want to use it (the smaller,) for pushing as well as pulling. ( Here is the business link: http://sites.google.com/site/steelfitnessequipment/home )

The rope-through-pipe approach to pushing was suggested to me, but never having used a sled, I was wondering, well, as stated above, how closely that approximates pushing when the load is anterior.

TIA
