Default Lipid Peroxides

What exactly are the problems associated with consumption of trans fats and lipid peroxides?

Not to be a smarty pants but the main deleterious side effect of trans fats is death! Lipid peroxides can play a hefty hand in hastening that event also. Trans fats derange liver function and thus can play a role in inflammatory conditions such as heart disease and stroke. Lipid peroxides (think foods fried in old oil) are SUPER potent free radical generators. LPs subject the body to enormous oxidative stress and the really crappy part is that when it starts happening in the lipid bi-layer of your cells or mitochondria it is a chain propagating reaction. This means it can go on and on causing huge amounts of damage to structural proteins and DNA. I hear that stuff is important!
