Default Where do you lift?

So this question may be a little different, but I'm wondering where people lift, that don't lift in a gym?

In my area, there are no actual weightlifting gyms, let alone any USAW clubs. The closest thing to it is the 24hr Fitness that has one platform in the very back, or the numerous CrossFit gyms.

The problem with the CrossFit gyms is I've "evolved" how I want to train and while I still enjoy CrossFit, I'm content with only doing it one, maybe two, times per week. Furthermore, all of the CrossFit gyms' "open gym" hours are in the middle of the day when I can't make it, so they really aren't a viable option to follow any of the Catalyst training cycles or anything of the sort.

So this leaves me wondering if any of you have gotten creative, or know of creative locations to train? I'm not opposed to getting a barbell, bumpers, and building a platform and squat rack, but I live in the Pacific NW so setting up outside really isn't an option. And my house has no garage, unfortunately. I was considering possibly renting a 10x10 storage unit.

Any other ideas?

You mentioned being in the Pacific NW, not sure exactly where but there are quite a few Olympic lifting gyms or gyms with lifting programs in the Washington/Oregon area. Off the top of my head here are some options in the Seattle/Puget sound area:

Yeah, there are lots of options on the west side of the state. Unfortunately, I'm on the east side with, to my knowledge, no options..
That's why I'm trying to get creative with a place to train. It's looking like putting a platform in a storage unit may be the best option. Anyone done that?

Personally, I lift in my garage most of the time (go into local Crossfit gyms to shake it up every so often).

However, I have lifted in a storage unit. Granted, we had stuff in there, but it definitely is a viable option. A couple things to keep in mind, though: no lights in the units, usually; and I would definitely let the management know about it. Most of them want the units rented, so usually won't mind too much, provided you don't damage the unit itself.

I have a few locations:

If I'm home:

- my driveway
- nearby elementary school parking lot (if it's late enough or a weekend)
- this concrete slab with a roof at a nearby park (if it's raining)

If I'm at work:

- one of 3 different parking lots
- haven't found a rainy day spot yet
