Don't you mean for every 10lbs of BW consume 0.5g to 1g of fish oil? 220 grams of fish oil per day seems like a sicking amount of fish oil
Greg Everett 2010-08-10
Jon - Yes I do. Although I did just hear a funny story yesterday about a certain weightlifter trying to take 60 cod liver oil tablets "for his knee pain". The parking lot got more fish oil than his knees.

Coach, quick question, I started olympic lifting in may and have been without a coach for about a month. The two weeks before I started following your programming I snatched 3 times a week at about 85-90% (big mistake). Now I have this bad pain in my left shoulder when I extend my arms on the snatch. Should I take a week off from snatching and continue to clean and perform jerks etc..

Appreciate your help.

Sam - Take some time off and see a pro to figure out what the problem is. In the meantime, tons of ice, stretching, foam rolling. After some time off when it no longer hurts, re-introduce the snatch gradually with light weights and low volume and feel it out.

Jon for example "me"-220lbs/10=22---22 X .5 = 11g or @ 1g Rx, 22g....not 220g, slap me if i'm being a wanker.

I'm a family man on a budget, I roll w/ the COSTCO fish oil 180 count EPA410/DHA274 for about $15.

Coach, I started up judo after a twenty year layoff. I'm 57 and take fish and krill oil at about .4gr/10lbs of bodyweight. Problem I'm having is bruising. I'm getting these beauties all over. I want the anti-inflamation benefits but the bruising is spectacular.

So can I stop for a day before and resume after workouts? What is the half life of fish oil anyway?

Thanks, Lee
Greg Everett 2010-08-11
Lee - Fish oil effects should definitely be cumulative, although I'm sure there is a measurable acute effect as well. That being said, skipping days here and there won't completely eliminate the benefits. Whether or not it will be enough to get rid of the bruising I honestly don't know, but it's worth a shot.
