DO you ever find the center knurling to be a little rude to your neck with the rubbing, or is my delivery just that bad? i have a pendlay bar with no center knurling, and i don't have the issue, but when i use one with the center knurling i walk away with a sweeet rash. Is it just to keep it from slipping in the back squat mostly? I can't see it helping much in the front position.

Greg/Aimee: Where can I get that shirt? Thanks!
Greg Everett 2009-02-21
Matt - Yes, it's there for back squatting. If it's scraping your throat, it means that you're dropping out from under the bar a bit - meet the bar with your shoulders. If you're bringing your body right into the bar, it will be a direct hit and no scraping.

Mike - That shirt is from www.focusedtrainers.com. Not sure if they sell them.

Quick question: does it matter if lighter weights are racked closer to the collar than heavier weights? i've always wondered this.

Looks like you can find the shirt here:

Sn - 175x1x2 (PR)
C+J - Skipped
B. Squat - 315x1

B. Squat aggravated my shoulder so I'm going to switch to low bar to see how it feels. Weighed exactly 175 this morning too, so I'm pretty close to a BW snatch. Now I have to figure out how to make it look pretty.

Sn - 190 PR
C&J - 245
BS - 425

Snatch - 60KG
Back squat - 5 x 80KG (still not time to max out on BS)
Worked on front lever

DP - It's good practice because the closer the weight is to the center of the bar, the less stress it endures, but in all honestly, it probably doesn't make much difference.
